Men's skincare has never been this simple

Caring for your skin is half the work—that’s how the Samurai felt. They never left the house without a proper shave, and you shouldn’t either. But shaving often means that your skin could use some extra hydration. Now, we understand that “hydration” probably isn’t in your vocabulary, so here are a few tips to ensure that you start your day as fresh and confident as possible.

Hydration from the inside out

This one is quite simple. Eat vegetables and fruits that contain a lot of water, like cucumbers or watermelon. In addition to this, make sure you’re drinking enough water every day. Because proper hydration starts on the inside.

Not too hot

We’re the first to admit that a hot shower is amazing, and that there’s nothing better than a nice, warm bath before bed, but be careful. No matter how cold it is outside, taking a hot shower (or bath) really dries out your skin like nothing else. Especially if your skin is on the sensitive side.

Avoid alcohol

Don’t panic, we’re not talking about skipping that after-work beer. This is about skincare products that contain too much alcohol. If you see “SD alcohol” or “denatured alcohol” on the packaging, don’t use it.

A simply spray

This might just be even simpler than the first tip: using a body mist—a spray for your skin—can work wonders. It’s not only good for your skin’s moisture balance, it can also be really cooling and refreshing during the summer. Win-win.

Detergent for dry skin

You might not have seen this coming, but the way you wash your clothes also influences the condition of your skin. If you suffer from dry skin, the type of detergent you use may make this worse. To protect yourself, look for products that are listed as hypoallergenic.

Shaving after showering

Shaving can really take a toll on the skin. That’s why we advise you to shave right after you shower, simply because this makes the hairs softer and easier to remove. And always use—yes, always—a shaving cream or gel. This helps prevent annoyances like in-grown hairs and keeps your skin moisturized as well.
